Abstract:
AIM To investigate the relationship between homocysteine (Hcy) level and blood pressure variability (BPV) and heart rate variability (HRV) in patients with salt-sensitive hypertension.
METHODS 131 patients with salt-sensitive hypertension admitted to Guang’anmen Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences from 2015 to 2016 were selected. Hcy≥15 mol/L served as Hcy increased group, while <15 mol/L served as normal group. Through dynamic monitoring of patients’ blood pressure and heart rate, statistical software was used to analyze and compare the related parameters of blood pressure and heart rate variability between the two groups, and further determine the influencing factors of Hcy level.
RESULTS Significant difference was found in BPV (24hASBP, 24hADBP, 24hSBPV, 24hDBPV) and HRV (RMSDD, SDNN, SDANN) in Hcy increased group (P<0.01, P<0.01, P<0.05, P<0.01) and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant. Hcy level was correlated with 24hADBP, 24hDBPV, RMSSD and SDNN (P<0.01) and it was negatively correlated with RMSSD and SDNN in heart rate variability. Moreover, multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that the above two levels had a significant influence on Hcy level. (P<0.05, P<0.01, P<0.01).
CONCLUSION Hcy level is correlated with blood pressure variability and heart rate variability in patients with salt-sensitive hypertension.
